Bio: Hi! I’m Shelby Beach and I’m the Student Services Specialist at the Evansville Community School District. My family and I are excited to get to know more about the Evansville Community as we continue to experience everything the community has to offer. Additionally, I am the proud owner of Ollie the dachshund, who accompanies me to school and events/meetings within the community. In my free time, I like to read, enjoy the outdoors, sing, challenge my creativity with crafts and floral arrangements, and hang out with my husband (Nathan), two dogs (Ellie and Ollie), and three cats (Eduardo, Figaro, & Duchess).
Q: How did you first hear about BASE?
A: It’s quite funny actually. A couple of years ago, I was at Symdon Chevrolet looking to buy a new vehicle. My husband and I took a car for a test drive and I looked up at this billboard that said “BASE” in rainbow colors and under that it said “Building a Safer Evansville.” I remember saying to my husband how cool it was to have an organization so devoted to the community. Little did I know I would apply for a position for the Evansville Community School District and be hired as their Student Services Specialist in 2021. This is when I learned even more about BASE.
Q: Why did you decide to become a coalition member?
A: I decided to become a coalition member because BASE’s mission and vision align with my personal and professional values and beliefs. I’ve witnessed, first hand, how the organization operates and the togetherness it brings to the community. Who doesn’t want to be a part of that?
Q: What is your favorite thing about being involved with BASE?
A: My favorite thing about being involved with BASE is being able to experience the diversity throughout the community and collaborating with many entities that make the magic of togetherness happen. The people are phenomenal and the work being done is brilliantly constructed to make lasting change.
